The friendliness of the staff, excellent food and relaxed atmosphere
Very pleasant staff, facilities were good, catering was good.
stayed at this hotel severel times before, despite being near a main road the rooms are quiet. Good location if travelling in local area or en route to Cornwall. Excelllent food especially dinner menu.
I thought the girl on reception with long dark hair and glasses was very helpful and a pleasant girl.....comfort we liked...rooms bit dated but very clean and comfy......a spanish girl in the restaurant was extremely nice to us some of the others needed training in smiling and making u feel relaxed but all in all was super weekend. the location is ideal for dawlish etc which we love....highly reccomeded to friends and family..we stayed a few years ago and it was just as nice.
Just some of the restaurant staff were a bit aloof------but all in all a very pleasant stay-----the only complaint about breakfast was i can not have orange juice and as a diabetic i drink water so much that a change in the way of apple juice or something would have been nice. You need more than one juice in my opinion.
The room was small but very comfortable and had all the necessary facilities barring air conditioning which would have been good on the hot nights. The bathroom was newly fitted and in very good order. The staff were pleasant. The floral displays and grounds were pretty and immaculately kept and made the place look welcoming and well-cared-for.
We spent 3 very hot nights there, and because of the heat, we had to keep the windows open. There was a) not enough air because the windows only open a little way, and b) a lot of traffic noise most of the night because of the hotel's situation on a busy main road roundabout. Air conditioning would have solved these problems. The decor, whilst in good condition, was very dated. The English breakfast was plentiful with good quality ingredients, but everything was swimming in grease. Perhaps a few cold buffet goodies would be a good idea, or more careful serving of the hot food.
Food and bar qwere excellent
I liked the friendly, helpfull & efficient staff at the hotel
Very convenient for Exeter and for visiting friends in Devon
excellent breakfast and good light lunches in comfortable dining area
Duvets are too hot, lighter bedding should be available
a nice room with a big bathroom,a short distance out of Exeter
Quality of rooms and service was first class.
The Hotel is clean and unobtrusive. It allows me to come to Exeter from Birmingham when I need to and is quiet enough for me to work in my room in the evening. Breakfast is excellent
We have stayed before and found the double rooms to be fairly small. This time we booked a king size room. Far better. Staff were happy & helpful & the food excellent as always.
good clean and weel organised hotel. Flowers and garden were superb
Rooms a little small
We had a very enjoyable stay at the Devon Hotel, the Staff were very welcoming, the Room we stayed in had a very comfortable bed, the bathroom was not a great size but was fine for the week, only concern with the Room was that it was very warm at night even with windows open but the Hotel did provide a fan which was a great help.Food was served and presented well and the Dining Staff could not do enough for us, nothing was too much trouble, we will most cerntainly return to this first class Hotel, well done.
